Core Wound Healing for Feelings of Unworthiness
Do you need core wound healing? You may if you have a gnawing feeling in the pit of your stomach.
That’s how it starts. That is a lack of joy, my friend.
It becomes a problem when you ignore your intuition, creativity, and happiness.
It’ll eat away at you from the inside out.
Some symptoms are digestive issues, upset stomach, muscle aches, exhaustion, and a shitty mood.
But don’t worry, there’s a fix for this and it’s not a pill.
It’s not magic, but the results are magical.
This post is all about core wound healing.
What are Emotional Wounds?
Human beings aren’t great at understanding how they feel. The physical body is dense and we tend to live anywhere but the present moment.
Our minds live in the past, or the future.
We focus on things outside of us like searching for our life’s purpose.
If you’re a wounded healer, like I was, you’re working on inner child wounds. This is a great place to begin. It’s how we find our authentic selves.
Turns out that authenticity is about being honest with yourself. That proves to be more difficult than it needs to be at times.
Traumatic experiences bring the inner child to the forefront. When the inner child hasn’t healed, they are reactive.
Reactivity stems from a negative emotion.
Emotional pain creates even more reactivity. It’s emotional pain that actually perpetuates the core wound.
Once you dissolve the emotional pain, there is no core wound to latch onto. The anger, bitterness, sadness and resement dissolves with it.
This does not mean you no longer have the core wound. It means you no longer body it or act it.
The only way you can do this is by shifting your identity to someone who isn’t wounded.
Again, easier said than done. But I’ve seen clients shift this wound within a year to a year and a half.
It is not easy, but it is possible.
Examples of Core Wounds
You can find unresolved core wounds by paying attention to what causes you to react.
For example, I have a sound sensitivity.
When I did my core wound work, I realized that it stemmed from several areas.
A major one was when a bullet missing my head by one inch when I was a kid. Yes, traumatic.
Believe it or not, that happened twice.
Soul wounds don’t begin in this lifetime. We remember and work through them in this lifetime.
They’re coming up for a reason that you get to explore while you’re alive.
Your soul triggered them with intention to clear them in this lifetime.
Past wounds are either from a past lifetime, or from the past in this lifetime.
Either way, we can heal the past to move forward in the present.
Core Wound Healing for the Abandonment Wound
An abandonment wound is one of the neglect wounds. I treat abandonment as emotional neglect.
Of course, it can be physical as well.
The healing work begins with your realize how abandonment has an unconscious hold on you.
Abandonment occurs when you leave a stable relationship out of fear of commitment.
When you give up on your dreams, it’s abandonment.
Staying in a toxic relationship too long is abandonment.
Abandonment is two sides of the same coin. Either you abandon yourself and your needs. Or you abandon others.
If it’s the right choice for you, it isn’t abandonment. But, you need to understand your own intentions and what is driving you to make the choice.
Without this insight and awareness, it’s easy for the wound to be directing your choices.
Why Am I Dealing With Rejection
One of the powerful ways to resolve an abandonment core wound is by working on rejection.
Everyone has positive traits. When you focus on your negative traits, you’re dealing with rejection.
Rejection often shows up with social anxiety. You may call yourself an introvert, or avoid seeing people or going to events.
You may very well be an introvert. But which percentage is actually a fear of rejection? This is where self-reflection is necessary.
Rejection comes with anxiety. So, pay attention to what you’re avoiding while you feel anxious.
This will tell you areas that you need to focus on healing rejection.
Why Do I Feel Burdened?
Feeling burdened comes up from emotional burdens. People believe that this has to do with taking on too much. It doesn’t.
It’s when your capacity is lower than what you’ve taken on. I see this a lot with women who take on other people’s expectations.
Once you let go of what other people think of you, or expect of you, you’ll feel free again.
Why do I have Intimacy Issues
Betrayal creates a sort of betrayal wound. It comes up as intimacy issues.
Intimacy is an inability to get emotionally close to others, or let them get close to you.
Intimacy is not about sex, though that’s how many people treat it.
It’s about letting someone see all of you. The good, the bad and the ugly.
Intimacy can bring up rejection issues. This is why relationships are so triggering for many people.
A relationship will ask you to heal your deepest issues.
You’ll wonder why you keep attracting the same type of person in a different body.
Vulnerability
Intimacy will also bring up major vulnerability issues. To be intimate, you need to be vulnerable.
You’ve got to put yourself out there, and trust that you are enough. That someone one will like, and accept you as you are.
If you have rejection issues, you won’t be able to do this. So, you start by healing rejection. Work on the areas where you reject yourself.
The most important part is for you to love and accept yourself.
Once you do, your elevated vibration will attract people to your side that love and accept you too.

Taking Responsibility
When you have responsibility issues, you either take on too much or take on too little.
Taking on too much means you put your own needs on the back burner.
As you take on too little, you expect other people to fix your problems and you victimize yourself.
There’s an interesting issue with the responsibility symptom.
Overachievers sometimes shift into slackers.
When they start healing themselves from burnout, they slip into blame.
It happens once you understand who is at the root cause of your issues.
It’s one thing to understand who caused them, but don’t let yourself go there. Maintain your power by taking responsibility for how you feel.
The last thing you want to do is give control back to the people who harmed you to begin with.
That backslide will be difficult to recover from. You’ll put yourself in a positon to need their help.
Your soul does this to force you to heal.
You have to know the pattern to avoid this at all costs.
But, if you do find yourself in this position, you’re exactly where you need to be.
Learn as fast as you can, and make choices that move you forward.
The Belief System
Any negative belief contributes to your belief system. These are subconscious beliefs, so you’re not even aware of them.
It’s a tricky situation because false beliefs can be overriding any positive choices.
If you have negative thought, and you catch it in the moment, change it right then.
It’s easiest to retrain your mind in the moment.
If it’s a deep belief, as most are, repetition is key. You cannot correct yourself too much. Repeat the process until it’s all you know.
Core beliefs, when negative, are toxic! They will wreak havoc in every area of your life.
You’re the only one that can change them.
The Healing Process
Core wound healing is about honoring the process and the journey.
Your healing journey is a process of calming your whole person. Your nervous system is at the center of your healing.
A positive way to heal the inner child is with shadow work. Shadow work is when you heal your inner world through shining a light on the pain.
Stop giving it a place to hide. Let your inner child react, in a safe place with a therapist or healer.
I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to let someone see you.
Do this with someone you feel safe with who knows how to hold space.
These are the steps to take to heal a core wound:
1. Identify the Core Wound
This post will help you identify whether you have an abandonment core wound and how it may be showing up for you.
The core wound gives you the map on what you need to heal.
Once you understand how it’s showing up in your life, everything else makes sense.
You can breathe a little easier knowing what it is, even if you don’t know how to fix it.
The discovery and awareness are the first step to healing.
2. Isolate the Memory
To isolate the core wound, you need to know where, when, why, and how it started and who was involved.
This is not to blame others or yourself.
This exercise shines a light on why it was so painful, and why you buried it.
To heal, we need to shed light on these dark places.
Sometimes it is a past life issue. Other times it is an issue with your soul tribe, or your family ancestry.
One of the best ways to do this is through a past life regression or visioning exercise.
This will bring you into a state of altered consciousness where it’s easier to connect with your past.
3. Identify Your Belief Structure
Core wounds are like a house. Your belief structure is the foundation of this house.
The real you lives inside of this house, responding and reacting to your environment.
Your reactions are based on the beliefs that surround you.
Your belief determine whether your home is expansive and supportive.
Or whether it’s small, limited, and restricted.
At some point, you’ll outgrow your house. It’s because your belief system is no longer serving you.
What once kept you safe now holds you back from experiencing everything the world has to offer.
This is where you’ll want to identify the storyline that your core wound created.
It’s critical to understand whether the story is helping you or hurting you.
4. Re-create Your Belief Structure
Your core wound is being held up by your belief structure and to re-create it, we need to re-write it.
It’s a lot like taking a wrecking ball to an old house.
We need to bring it back down to the foundation by questioning every single belief you hold.
This is hard, triggering work.
If your beliefs don’t match your Soul’s truth, you’ll remain stuck and in a repeating cycle.
We can rebuild the foundation of your beliefs, and change your identity.
Once how you see yourself changes, you have the power to create a life you love.
Let yourself believe this is possible and your whole world changes.
5. Create With Power
There are two types of will.
Free will and divine will. Both are real, and both are powerful.
Some people are here to learn how to use their free will power. Others, their divine will power.
What’s interesting is that they’re both the same. Your will is the same as the Universe’s will.
The Universe is waiting for you to step into your sacred sovereignty.
This is the knowingness that you have everything you need within you.
You can’t be judged for doing what’s right for you, and there are no wrong choices.
There are only intentions. Stay true, pure and authentic to your wants and needs and you can’t go wrong.
This comes back to giving yourself permission to be happy.
And living your life in alignment with your authenticity.
6. True Embodiment
This is where you begin co-creating your ideal life with the Universe and your Soul.
Rather than reacting from a core wound, you’re free to make choices that align with you.
Your spiritual practice becomes practical as you use it to navigate your life.
The next step is to use your energy and intuition to make choices that celebrate who you are at your core.
Embodiment is all about using your spiritual tools and power of free will choice to create a life you love! Believe it or not, healing does not need to go on forever.
Core wound healing is all about repairing your energy and moving forward.
